While Melbournite enjoys freedom, father can’t see Gold Coast daughters

IT’S two very different stories for a pair of Gold Coasters impacted by Melbourne’s lockdown – one stuck in a landmark high-rise, while the other lives it up on the Gold Coast.

Surfers Paradise’s Sean Buckley, owner of car repair and roadside assist giant Ultra Tune, has more recently been based in a Crown Casino apartment where he will see out Victoria’s six-week lockdown starting midnight Wednesday.

The entrepreneur shares custody of his two-year-old daughter but after lockdown ends, it will be six months since he’s seen two other teenage daughters on the Gold Coast.
“It’s half a year wasted without seeing them,” he said. “If they were to come down, it’ll be two weeks in quarantine then maybe a week with myself and their mum, then another two weeks of quarantine when they return home.

“That’s 28 days stuck in a hotel room and I’m not going to put them through that. We were hoping to see them soon, because their mother – who I’m no longer with but lives around the corner – is unwell.”

Gold Coast girl turned Melburnian Cheryl Sheppeard made it back to the Gold Coast to visit family just one week before the virus surge in Melbourne.

Cheryl Sheppeard said she was lucky to have travelled back to the Gold Coast before the outbreak spread in Victoria.

“I was able to return to Queensland on compassionate grounds last month,” she said.

“I see my family every month, but because of the borders it had been at least six months. I had actually moved my flight forward by a week and lucky I did, I may have been stuck.”

While her home in St Kilda isn’t a declared hot spot, surrounding suburbs are.

“I am considering moving back to the Gold Coast for good, it is a beautiful sunny and safe place to be at the moment.”

Charles Hatley Wins by TKO against Anthony Mundine in 11th Round

What a night at the Melbourne Convention Centre as Charles Hatley wins in the 11th Round by TKO against Anthony Mundine!

It was a lively night, with some great undercard fights:

Blake Caparello def Luke Sharp (heavyweight) — unanimous decision

Qamil Balla def Ben Wharburton v (super lightweight) — unanimous decision

Lucas Miller def Shane Tuck (cruiserweight) by KO

Kane Watts def Thomas Heads (super welterweight) by TKO

Anthony Buttigieg def Sam Colomban (Super welterweight) — split decision

Anthony Mundine vs Charles Hatley:

Hatley took the lead by round 5 with the scorecard showing he was ahead: 40-33, 40-33, 39-36

Mundine started to feel the effects of Hatley’s peristant body shots  to the ribs in round 6. Hatley then marked Mundine on the left cheek and definitely wobbled him.

By round 9, Hatley was switching stances going from orthodox to southpaw and keeping up the page. In round 10 Mundine scored his first knockdown, protested by Hatley who came back stronger in round 11 by a strong right hand and TKO.

Ultra Tune launches a new radio campaign via KWP! Advertising

Ultra Tune auto service centres is pleased to present our new radio advertising across South Australia. Ultra Tune is positioning itself as the car repair centre for the less mechanical able in a new radio campaign created by KWP! Advertising.

The three radio spots feature three different characters all unsure of what’s gone wrong with their car.

KWP copywriter Corey Swaffer said: “For some people, taking their car to a mechanic can be a daunting experience because they don’t really know how to explain what’s going on. So we wanted to let people know that Ultra Tune will get to the bottom of it, no matter how silly the problem sounds.”

Ultra Tune marketing director Tim Carracher said: “Ultra Tune has earned a reputation for being approachable and understanding and the KWP! team has articulated this brand benefit in a fun and highly-memorable way.”
