Exciting match up for the Malvern Town Hall Ultra Tune Bob Rose Cup! Parnia Porsche and Kewarin Boonmee on Friday June 24th!
We are very excited at the news that Randy Petalcorin has the chance to take the vacant WBA Silver Flyweight Title here in Melbourne on the 15th April 2016. Randy is now in Melbourne training for the bout and has even gone up a weight class! He is not peturbed by this as he recently stated “I’m ready and I’m not scared of my opponent,” tells Petalcorin. “Two years ago I’ve sparred Kimweri in Melbourne and I had no problem beating him up.” Everyone at Ultra Tune is behind you and we are excited to be at the event on the 15th April at Melbourne Pavilion in Flemington.
Australian 154 pounder Ben Capps (12-3-2) stopped Mike Esgandari (6-2) in round ten to capture WBC Asian Boxing Council title at the Malvern Town Hall, Melbourne, Victoria on Friday. Capps outworked his opponent consistently and at 2:07 of the final round the referee crowned Capps.
Promoter Peter Maniatis said “Ben Capps punch volume and pressure work down a gallant Mike Esgandari when ref Jim Boland stepped in to stop the fight in the 8th to give Capps the WBC Asia boxing Title.”
The Bob Rose Cup started in 2003, to honour the boxing career of the late Magpie coach and champion player Robert Rose. Boxing historians say Rose was a 16-year-old when he made his professional boxing debut at the West Melbourne Stadium on April 29, 1944, and beat Frank Darcey on points.
In other action 175 pound Manny Vlamis (13-4-0) was upset points loser to New South Wales boxer, Steven Ma (7-6-0) over eight rounds for the vacant state Victorian title. Scores 79-71, 77-73, 77-73.

Sean Buckley from Ultra Tune is interviewed by boxing promoter Peter Maniatis to discuss the recent success of Randy ‘Ultratune’ Petalcorin in this Channel 31 special. In this episode Peter asks Sean about his experiences in boxing and how Randy has made an impact in such a short time, not only in Asia but across the world.
Sean Buckley said he is ‘so thrilled that he won the world title’ and Randy is ‘very dedicated’ to training and gaining success, having struggled through adversity in the Philippines.
Peter also interviews Rod Cedaro, General Manager at Altitude Services, who are currently working with training Randy Petalcorin. Altitude Services are moving into different areas of training, whilst still training horses at altitude they are diversifying and implementing equipment for elite athletes. This includes a huge 3500m swimming pool cover in Queensland, in order to allow athletes in Australia the opportunity to train at altitude without flying overseas to a high altitude area such as Colorado. Find out more in the video below!
Peter and Sean discuss the elements of what makes someone a success and what their motivators are. Sean Buckley emphasizes how important it is to have passion and drive to be successful. He also discusses Spring Carnival and his thoughts on who to follow in 2014. Watch the video to find out who he is watching this season!
